Voliakovsky developed this method for long durational and site-specific performance over 8 years of teaching.

Every performance piece is the result of deep conceptual thinking and a carefully designed holistic training, in order to prepare body and mind to endure the complexities of each action.

Voliakovsky's method considers this training as the starting point of every performance piece. both stages -training and performing- are given equal importance in this process.

the greatest challenge lies in preparing the mind for a performance piece. A different process begins: one of stripping ourselves of the social qualities and cultural elements that make us respond unconsciously to different circumstances and stimuli.
Voliakovsky Performance Method's goal is to deactivate these automatic responses, to make a clean slate that allows our work to be filled with new meaning.

CONCEPT
We are inevitably tied together to the reality that surrounds us.
Human beings are contextual beings.
Our context informs us and we inform it back.
Every element and subject interacts within this complex system.
New components are constantly added to this volatile system.
fast adaptation is required.
The bond between an individual and its surroundings is unbreakable.
One does not function without the other.
We rely on this bond in order to survive.
What would happen if the notion of culture disappeared?
Would a new form of society develop?
Would we stop being human?

NOW OPEN

Exclusive one-on-one online sessions via Skype. One weekly meeting of one hour and follow-up via email.
APPROACH:

Every sensitive performance piece requires a subsequent process of recovery, that allows the individual to return to his/her previous physical and emotional state. Artists usually carry out sensitive pieces without proper preparation, which can lead to psychological, physical and emotional consequences. This can be prevented with a customized training to prepare body and mind. If this wasn’t the case, a customized recovery plan can be applied after performing.

Performance art is highly appreciated within the contemporary art world. Oftentimes collectors and gallery owners don’t feel their collections are complete until they’ve acquired a performance piece. However, this high regard isn’t enough to increase its commercial value. In fact, performance art is barely listed in the international art market.
